Natural Bridge, Virginia

Who knew Virginia to be so sweet?

First stop, Shenandoh. The tour of the cave would have been extremely fun and interesting if the tour guide wasn't so incredibly obnoxious. An ultra nerd who thought she was a comedian. Aahhhh... No way out, without her.

The people who run these caverns, also have a lot to do with parades. They have a big warehouse on their lot that houses floats that are used in major parades, like the Rose Bowl, Macy's Thanksgiving Day and many others. One of their floats will be going out for Obama's Presidential Inauguration.

The property was also covered with these gloriously large items...

Taking a break from the KOA's was a popular choice.

The local flavor of this small Blue Ridge Mountain town is something like this...

With a whole lotta that...
All of these fabulous fiberglass beauties are the work of a local artist by the name of Mike Cline. He has done work for some of Alice Cooper's stage productions and I believe for some different amusement parks and such. This has to be his crowning achievement, right here in Natural Bridge, Virginia, made of styrofoam...

This town was founded around and named after what was once one of the natural wonders of the world. Go figure.
George Washington was so smitten with this bridge that he built a two room cabin not far from it, carved his initials in it and gave it to Thomas Jefferson.
Other hot gems of this country town, include the Wild Safari Park...
This drive-thru park was the wildest thing we've seen. I am so glad I choose to sit in the back seat with Lucky, because Mike and Brad had all kinds of monkey business going in the front seat, rolling the windows down on each other and using the child safety locks. We were laughing so hard as all these desperately hungry wild animals are shoving there heads deep into the car windows. When the food ran out the camels would just eat the plastic buckets, (there was no stopping this). Lucky was going in and out of fearing for his life and cracking up. It hardly seemed safe, but then again, we are in the south.
When the Vikings played the Packers, Lucky and I went to the Natural Bridge Zoo. Surprisingly, he wanted to see more animals after that potentially life changing experience.

Back at camp, the boys had rented a golf cart for some good ol' fashion hillbilly fun.

A teapot house was out there somewhere...

Along with a girl and her dinosaur...

Mini golf anyone?

This guy has a miniture Graceland set up in his front yard...

This is my husband...

I think I am starting to fall for this man...

A road less traveled...

and one thats got some miles!
(hehe, just kidding!)

On our way out of Virginia, Lucky had banana pancakes at a diner that was featured on Diner's, Drive-Ins and Dives...
This concludes our Virginia portion of the trip. Sit back and enjoy the rest of the ride.

EXCUSE ME !!!! Bearded Brad and a Wild Stallion. Sick .. I'd hate to see what sheep out west would think. Ha Ha. Loved the animal park did the boys get out of the front seat with spit dripping off their pants from hungry animals sticking their heads in the car? Kind of like the commercial with the elephant sitting on the car. Say hi to everyone and give 'Lucky a big hug from his cousins and auntie

I think all those big creatures are creepy and Lucky will be scarred for life....Emo is still a Thurston and should stand up for her family's honor.
