Salt Lake City, Utah

Took a brake from the blinding white salt to check out
The great Salt Lake City.
We discovered The Gilgal Gardens...
...where they feature a hill full of body parts...
...and Mormon leader Joseph Smith as a sphinx...
Not sure who this cat is, but he sure looks hip in his brick pants...
There's some heads of creepy old people...

The Salt Lake City's State Fair...
...was nothing like Minnesota's, but then again, there can be no others like ours...
All the same, Lucky had a good time working on the children's farm...
...going on rides...
...and eating sweet treats...
Believe it or not, Lucky flocks to these things. Loves it!
The Great Salt Lake is the 37th largest lake on earth...
...covering an average of 1,700 square miles...
...but the lake's size fluctuates substantially due to its shallowness.
The high salt content of the lake makes it uninhabitable for all but a few species, including brine shrimp and brine flies and several forms of algae.
Wonder what other kinds of unsuspecting creatures live under this prehistoric sea?
A lochness monster, perhaps???
Home of the 2002 Winter Olympics...
The Bonneville Salt Flats are located in northwest corner of Utah. Five minutes from the Nevada border. We stayed in the lovely town of West Wendover, Nevada. Famous for the first hotel/casino.
It's always sunny in Nevada...
Tomorrow we race.

Did the Utah State Fair have beer? When I was there the college stadium didn't even have caffienated soda.

The liquor laws must have changed around there. I remember years ago we had to buy a club membership to by alcohol anywhere and they only sold individual bottles of beer at the store. This time around it was readily availible at the state fair and anywhere else with no membership card needed. Those Mormons are sure progressing.

Salt Lake's a trip, huh? My sister and her fiance live there. Crazy Mormons everywhere and so many YOUNG girls with babies.
