Memphis, Tennessee

3764 Elvis Presley Boulevard...

The gates of Graceland...

...the writings on the wall...

The royal living quarters...

...what may not be shown in each picture is the giant furniture like television that is in each and every room...

They won't show you Elvis' room or the entire second story for that matter, but this is where Gladys and Vernon's magic happened...

...a modern kitchen, good enough to cook meatloaf everyday for 6 months straight in...

...the Jungle Room was used to record his last 2 albums in. The sound was totally boss, because of the shag, man...

...I wonder how many televisions were shot out in this room...

Mike and I were talking and we think that it would be in the Jackson family's best interest to turn Neverland into a tourist attraction. Well, at least in our best interest, because we want to see it. Remember, Joe: Elvis has made more money dead, than alive. Do it.

More bedazzled outfits and jumpsuits than you can shake your hips at (note the less than enthusiastic expression on Lucky's face. Hatin' Graceland, making the rest of us suffer.)...

Grrrr...

There's Mike and Lucky, "Taking Care of Business" on The Lisa Marie...

Saw his fleet of automobiles, including his mama's beloved pink Cadillac.

Lucky found the ducks of The Peabody Hotel most delightful. He laughed so hard at the sight of them waddling the red carpet up to the steps of their lobby fountain.

Sun Studios is one of Memphis' most historic of all recording studios owed by Sam Phillips...

...after all, it was where Elvis Presley got his start and many other legends went to record. Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Ike Turner, BB King... the list goes on. It is still used as a live recording studio, today. Little has changed. Maybe just some newer equipment.

Here is a photo of Sam with a very old timey record recording device. Now that's crazy.
...and the front office, belonging to the studio's secretary Mary Keiser, the woman actually responsible for discovering Elvis...
The Lorraine Motel is the site of Dr. Martin Luther King's assassination.
On April 4th 1968, Dr. King walked out of his room and was shot on this balcony...
The hotel has been turned into The National Civil Rights Museum...
...but, just like our last visit to Memphis, it was closed.
So instead, we feasted on some ribs...
...then, took a mid-day stroll down Beale Street.
Ah, Yeah...
...heard the blues...
...just a couple dudes enjoying a couple of slushy pink drinks together...
...there's these Irish diving goats...

...tried on some funny hats...
...bought some funny glasses...
...for a good time, call this funky chicken...
...It's hot. Everyday since we left home has been at least 97 degrees...
...Gibson guitars are made in Memphis (guess we've seen plenty of that before, huh?)...

When the sun went down, we ended our stay with a horse drawn carriage ride around town.
Lucky photographed here with the horse named Fast Eddie...
Ladies and Gentlemen,
LUCKY HAS LEFT THE BUILDING.
