Austin, Texas ~ Part 3

Pretty much on any given street corner around here, you can find an old Airstream...

...or something to that effect...
...serving as one purpose or another...
...old and rusty...

...so charming...
Austin is simply divine...

If I could, I surely would wrap all of Austin up in a cute little package, bring it on home and set it all up in my house. Minus the dirty dust. I'd be as happy as a peach.
It's just so f--ing cute around here. I can't stand it.
(I do mean that in the best way possible)
Shopping is out of hand. The 2nd hand stores are 2nd to none.
Oh, and the food is a cowgirl's dream.
A true class act. Quite possibly the best in town. A step above the rest.
That's Bob... You may know him from such popular establishments as Stella's Fish Cafe and/or Majors...
This is where we saw Grammy Award winning Best New Artist... Adele...
Just in case you spent much of your young adult years obsessing over the movie Dazed and Confused, this is were they filmed it. Right here in Austin.

This would be Robert E. Lee High School...
~Air raid! Fry like bacon, you little freshman piggies. Fry!
~Darla Marks
~Yeah, well, listen. You ought to ditch the two geeks you're in the car with now and get in with us. But that's alright, we'll worry about that later. I will see you there. All right?
~ David Wooderson
~Party at the Moon Tower.~ David Wooderson
~You know what, coach. I gotta get going. Me and my "loser" friends, you know, we gotta get Aerosmith tickets. Top priority of the summer. Oh. And coach uh..I forgot. I might play ball, but I will never sign that. ~Randall "Pink" Floyd
...and if you really care... Matthew McConaughey's house that he was arrested for playing bongos, high and naked too loud into the night is located just 9 blocks away from the moon tower...
~Alright, alright, alright.
Anyway...
The T*X*R*D is another big deal way down here in the Longhorn state, that would be the Texas Roller Derby. This was the much anticipated Rhinestone Cowgirls vs Hellcats bout.
It was here were we met up with this Minneapolis Babe, Lori...
As you can see, Lucky was quite smitten with her...

...along with the strippers squared. A Lucky sandwich. Hhhmmm.... Luck in Babeland, I guess.
...and later on, another Minneapolis transplant, Dave and his lovely squeeze, Jori. (photos courtesy of Lucky)
Zilker Park is a big ol' park right in the middle of the city...
Lucky got to feed his duck friends...
...and ride the Zilker Zephyr...
Austin's main tourist attraction is the Barton Springs at Congress bridge.
9 months out of the year this bridge is the home 1.5 million bats. Each night they all fly out in search of good food, good friends and the best live music this side of the Mississippi.
Did I mention that we never did get one mosquito bite during our week long visit.
Say goodbye to Austin.
"Goodbye, Austin."

Hi you All:
I love reading your blog. I'm glad you are keeping it up. I'm not sure if people know you are back traveling & blogging. I'll let some of the family know. You are seeing some great sights. Who knew there are some fun things in Texas. Where to next? How long are you going to be gone? I'm helping pack cigars & some of the Costco stores in Texas have some of the ones that I pack. I thought that might be a interesting t-bit. When you get baack home the cousins will have to get to together & hear all your stories. (On your Mom side). We will pick a good resturant to go to. Keep on Blogging!!! Your coz, Barb
