Key Largo, FL ~ pt 8

The Florida Keys are made up of a series of islands. There is one road in and one road out. US Highway 1.

We pulled off at a place called Robbie's to see some fish.
Lucky sure gets a kick out of this kind of stuff...
Tarpon are these big ugly, hungry fish...
I never got a clear snapshot of one due to the pelican problem. They certainly aren't afraid to take a swipe at you or peck your eyes out. Keep your guard up.

A laid back look at the upper Keys...

Lucky found a couple ways to get out of the heat and stay cool.

After Discovery Cove, Mike and I were eager to give snorkeling another try...
This boat took us about 5 miles into the ocean...

The winds were a little high. The ocean was a little choppy. Visibility was a little bad. Maybe, not the best conditions for a couple first timers. We didn't last too long, before heading back to the boat. I felt a little panicy. Mike felt okay, though.
A few people in our group spotted a barracuda and a shark. The captain told us they don't worry about the shark in this area, because they are well fed. Fat and happy. Well, I am fat and happy, too, doesn't mean I couldn't snap. I thought they were nocturnal. Surely, he only told us this, after everyone was back on the boat, because he knew some people wouldn't go in if they knew about this. ME. The jellyfish alone, were enough.

Perhaps, I will try again in calmer conditions.

Check out the car we saw in the parking lot on the way out...
Mmmmm... a MATT'S Jucy Lucy.

Pelicans, Pelicans.. kinda of like carp of the air. Maybe they are like the geese that hang out on the lake paths and start chasing you. Well unless you have Journey with and then its the other way around. Enjoy the heat because you wont have it in a while..
