Discovery Cove, Orlando, FL ~ pt 5

Thursday: SEA WORLD'S DISCOVERY COVE
This was the absolute perfect way to wrap up our hectic Orlando visit. With sore feet and aching backs, we got up early to make our check-in time. This resort limits itself to 1000 guests per day. We were lucky enough to come on a day where there were less than 450.
All food and drinks are included. Anheuser-Busch owned. All the Landshark we could drink.
Popsicles, too.
Oh, glorious sand...
...and sun.

There is a large coral reef snorkel pool. More tropical fish and giant sting rays than you would ever encounter in the ocean. There is a shark tank that is only visible from under water. And, a lazy river that brings you through 3 different bird aviary's.

One of my mom's biggest dreams was to swim with a dolphin. She loved the water and the fishes. Up north or down south, it didn't really matter. Well, she had the chance just a few months before she was diagnosed with breast cancer the first time.

So, this is for you mom.
I wish you could have seen me.
You would have loved this place.
You would have been proud of Lucky, too. He was so excited to pet the dolphin, he screamed. Her name was Dixie.
Mike is still treating me pretty good.
I miss you.

What a wonderful tribute to be able to go with the dolphins like your mom. I do so remember her talking about how fun it was.
Love all you guys see ya soon..

Here is a tune you guys can sing to Lucky:
Theme Song Lyrics
Title: "Flipper"
By: "Henry Vars And Dunham"
They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No-one you see, is smarter than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
Flying there-under, under the sea!

Everyone loves the king of the sea,
Ever so kind and gentle is he,
Tricks he will do when children appear,
And how they laugh when he's near!

They call him Flipper, Flipper, faster than lightning,
No-one you see, is smarter than he,
And we know Flipper, lives in a world full of wonder,
Flying there-under, under the sea!

Sarah: Your mom would have been so happy for you, Mike & Lucky. I got tears in my eyes from reading your post. It looks so beautiful there. I'm sure she is with you in spirit. I hope Lucky will like the snow as much as the water. I think we will have alot on the ground when you get home. At least more than recent years. Drive carefully.
Love your cuz, Barb

I had just met your Mom when they took that trip and remember very well her talking about swimming with the dolphins and how much she loved it.
Haven't heard that Flipper song in a while!

We drove past Mitzi's a.k.a. Flipper's final resting place today in Marathon (part of the Keys). It is a whole Dolphin learning center. We wanted to go check it out, but they were closing early for a private party. Boo to them for having a private party on a Tuesday.

OMG I got to swim with Dixie too, I've been 4 times now, its worth everything just to get close to the dolphins, let alone be in the water with them.
