The man that wrote Sleepy Hollow was from the Catskills. It's no surprise. It's very quite here. Not much to speak of. Some hilly mountains full of trees that are starting to change color. Two lane highways cluttered with farmer markets, businesses long gone, giant gnomes and grain families.
There is a POW memorial set up roadside.
39 years ago Woodstock didn't happen in the town of Woodstock. It took place in a place called Bethel. A very bland museum has been set up on the site with no such artifacts or memorabilia. Mostly just colorful posters that tell the story (NO PHOTOS ALLOWED). The people that run it seem to be stuck-up snubs who protect themselves with a lot of unnecessary security. Most visitors would like to step out back to check out the famous field, no such luck.
Down the block there is a small plaque set up over looking the area that the stage was set. Note: It is fenced in, so you cannot get too close to the field itself.
The Museum in Bethal Woods is cold and dull. Don't waste your time. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio is very much worth your while.
