Onward to the Olympic Peninsula.
The very northwestern tip of Washington.
A wild animal safari fits the bill...
Keep your head and limbs inside the vehicle at all times...
Do not step outside of your car.
Use caution and keep on moving.
Beggars! They are all a bunch of bread eating beggars.
If you ask Lucky what his favorite animal is, he will always say zebra...
and really doesn't get why we can't have one...
This whole afternoon reminds us of a certain bearded fellow that once hitched a ride.
Except this was a much more behaved one.
Axel slept through it all, only to wake up to meet this woolly creature...
Many Hollywood animal stars have come from this place and they have also shot a few movies/tv shows here. Most notably, Grizzly Adams. This is his cabin, it was built very tiny, to make him look very large...
Some Lassie movies were also filmed here. These are Walt Disney's set lights. The last movie was never finished due to his death and the studio never bothered to pick them up...
Lavender is a big deal up in these parts.
I swung by a farm and stocked up on all kinds of different lavender smelling products,
including bundles of the dried herb. Mm mmm... my favorite. The rv smells so good.
I love long walks on the beach...
...and lots of sand dollars...
...n' stuff...
Ya give this kid a haircut and look what happens...
... pretty sure all good soldiers wear Crocs.
Just miles outside of Kurt Cobain's home town,
figure it's as good of place as any to grab some dinner...
No way. It reeks of desperation, crystal meth and sadness.
The armpit of the upper northwest.
Twenty minutes in this town, and suddenly I get why Kurt did it.
Head back to the rv for some frozen veggie/ramon/stir fry delight.
(on a side note, Lucky is impressed by Kurt's long blond locks and wants to know more about Nirvana and "who is the Foo Fighters cymbal player?")
Hiking the Valley of the Giants was fun for all.
Axel likes to touch stuff...
...and Lucky likes to fly things...
The forest is green and fresh...
...and so full of mossy, ferny goodness...
...the clovers are huge...
...and the trees are even bigger...
A wise woman once told us that "You guys don't let no moss grow around your holes."
I don't know about all that.
...but, I do know that my little Ewok enjoys hanging out in his backpack carrier...
Mike spotted the Johnny Holmes of trees...
That's what she said.
Dang.
Just so you know, Lucky peed on this record breaking beauty...
Dudes...
Banana Slug...
These city boys handled themselves pretty well in the middle of all this nature...
The clouds hang pretty low on this peninsula...
They say it's where the mountains meet the sea...
