Louisiana ~ Part 2

A couple more days were spent bumming around the French Quarter.

...listening to music...

...eating...

...meeting new people...

This weathered old city is in pain. Seems that everyone we met has a story and is more than willing to tell it...

Mostly we spent our time relaxing at the hotel, while waiting on the dealership to fix the red car.

One afternoon we hit the Bywater district for little lunch at The Joint. A backyard barbecue.
This is how they cook the meat...

This is how we eat the meat...
(note: toothpaste stain on 2 day old shirt. cute real cute)
...in the sunshine with the friendly neighborhood pooch.
Some trailer park fun...

The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway's 24 mile bridge led us to Abitia Springs in the Tammany Parrish...
...and to The UCM Museum - Abita Mystery House...
The man responsible for all this madness is John Preble...
...he calls it a hobby that got out of control.
We call it awesome.
Check this guy out, just hanging around doing nothing...

There was an alligator farm there, too. It was called Insta-Gator.
Our brave tour guide grabbed a strong hold on one of 'em...
Lucky was able to assist in taping the jaw shut...
He was all about that gator, boy howdy...
The farmer was very informative and dispelled many of myths about the feared alligator.
Like besides being extremely aggressive creatures, there has never been one recorded death by alligator in Louisiana.

We ended our little field trip with a beer at the Abita Brew Pub. A perfect day.
The last day in New Orleans we took a cold walk through City Park's Storyland. Since we have been here, the weather has been all over the place. Highs of 78 and lows of 38. This day was cold with wind advisories.
Once upon a time...
...there lived a boy who thought he was king...
...he had his very own pet fire-breathing slide...
...and jumped over the moon...
...his Mama loved him very much...
...and so did his dad...
He loved spiders and alligators.
...and they all lived happily ever after...

THE END

Looks like you're off to a great start! Here's the website for my aunt and uncles place out in S. Utah if you want to consider swinging through there. www.paria.com I'm not sure when their restaurant opens for the season, but they make some killer BBQ and could take you out for an incredible day in the desert. Let me know if you decide you are interested and I'll give them a call.
