Nerstrand Big Woods State Park & Northfield, MN

Does the start of school mean that it's beginning of Fall?
 Fall means mighty campfires...
...& cozy bowls of homemade chili, right?
The best part of waking up is having the Moes at your camp,
along with their big lazy black bear-like dog, Tina...
This here rag-tag gang of 8 rides into town for the annual
DEFEAT OF JESSE JAMES DAYS
"Be Kind. Be Nice" the sign says...
Northfield, MN
"On a bright & sunny Thursday in September of 1876...
...eight bandits rode into Northfield intent on robbing the First National Bank.
The date was September 7 & the time was 2:00pm...

The James-Younger Gang entered the bank announcing that this is a holdup...
Meanwhile, out on the street the local citizens began to arm themselves...
Upon this discovery, two gang members sprang to their saddles & began firing their pistols...

The first to fall was a Swedish immigrant.
It lasted seven minutes & when it was over two robbers lay dead. As the six remaining gangsters fled, the largest manhunt in the history of these United States was being organized. Frank & Jesse James were not caught in this botched raid, but the Younger brothers were captured & Charlie Pitts was killed after a furious gun battle near Madelia, MN two weeks later."
90+ degree day, we're reminded that it is in fact still summer.
The Dog Days...
Wondering what this kid has to do with outlaw bank robbing gangsters...
Just go with it...
Hey-Ho, It's hot, hot, hot, let's go...
...Ahhh... Iron Maiden beer & some shade.
Run to the Hills
Can you feel that heat?
That's my wood.
Can I Play with Madness?
Before the comfort sets in...
...it's time we check out the beauty of nature with the park's scavenger hunt for kids,
in turn the prize is an adult t-shirt. ...thoughtful prize, Park System ;)
Seems as though, the hidden waterfall is mostly dried up...
...& possibly full of fecal matter...
That doesn't matter to fat kid or his Grandma...
Nothing to see here folks. Just keep on hiking...
A real life game of POOP LAKE.
Don't fall in...
It's still so hot, late in the day...
...& Big Baby got stuck in this swing...
We are not sure if this toad survived???
Here's one for our fallen homie...
 Mindcraft time.
Technology is a great thing...
Erin's champion campfire jalapeno pineapple fajitas.
Mike's a world class salsa maker...
Good Morning, late night Hooligans...
...& Good Bye...
Daddy needs to race home to watch another failed Viking's game...
Mike & Hunter are hoping for a victorious Viking's win in Jolly o' England where they are going to watch the NFL try to spark up some interest. Weird.
This guy plans to be watch the game in his undies.
That's cool, because I still have my jammies on.
 What's up with that?
From over a hot & humid 90 degrees to dropping down to pretty freaking chili.
That's Minnesota for ya.

The two parrot heads wanted to waste away right here, in hopes it would never end.

WAFFLE HOUSE!!! (Reprise)
A three years old's final request...
...& he wasn't going to let anybody ruin it!
 ...because waffles,
especially WAFFLE HOUSE is all a person needs for extreme happiness...
Lucky is a sunny side up & bacon man...
 AND, the damage is done.
Our last full official day in the southern sun.
 The Florida - Alabama border.
The Gulf.
Then the rains came in...
 ...nothing else to do...
...and when the rain stopped, we found another laid back chill spot...
...with an even higher mountain of sand...
This is LOVE.

Jump HIGH up in the sky LOVE.
I've always had a thing for the south...
I'd really like to stay awhile...
By nightfall this mound will covered in kids & grown-ups alike...
...but it's a new day...
...& like all good things...
...it must come to an end...
...SO, how's about one last pineapple mojito for the road...
& a Florida Key Lime Pie to top it all off...
 ...with my sweet lovelies...
At the end of each trip, somebody always asks...
Where are we going to go next???
