Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo Mexico

 The Island of Women
Just a short & choppy half hour ferry ride from Cancun...
...and our island transportation awaits...
1st stop...
Pray the Rosery
 ...but don't wake the dead.
When Drunk Baby is hungry, it's time to drink.
There is never a wrong time for !MARIACHI!
Lucky says, No Bueno! to his over cooked sesame crusted salmon.
I say, Si, por favor, puedo tener otro?
 Vamonos!
 ...to the Turtle Farm!
Tortugas
Mike's got a couple turtle heads locked & loaded...
Eres mi mejor amigo...
...el perro es el mejor amigo del hombre.
...papa esta tomando el asiento trasero,
mama esta impulsando ahora.
Hee Haw
At the southern most tip is Punta Sur...
...there are some sculptures...
 ...on rocky cliffs...
 ...and an old Mayan ruin...
 ...but Axel won't to look...
...so he stayed right here.
 Hey, the famous Conch House.
Then these loco ninos jumped in the agua muy fria...
...while Mike returned the rental & me & Drunk Baby enjoyed our own uno muy frio...
 ...that's enough for one day.
Time to board the ship back to the mainland...
 Adios Mexico...
...we will probably see you next year when we reach the countless dark days in the negative double digits, brutally cold wind advisories, giant snow drifts, multiple school closings...
10th COLDEST WINTER ON RECORD

Cancun, Quintana Roo Mexico

Coldest Minnesota Winter in over 20 years. Colder than Siberia. Colder than Mars.
-24 degrees with a wind chill of -45. School Closings. Shut in. Suffocating.
Hell has frozen over.
A miserable frost bitten wasteland!
Suck it, POLAR VORTEX!
AND... Damn you Minnesota, for ranking in at one of the highest in qualities of living & our outstanding school districts & ultra-fantastic family & friends.
Moving far - far away seems like only good idea in our dreams,
so instead we settle for taking it all in when we can.
This is CANCUN...
 ...and these are our GOONS!
He's got the moves like Jagger...
...you can't always get what you want,
but if you try sometimes you just might find
you get what you need...
We made the horrid mistake of staying off - way off the Hotel Zone. Blah. Not impressed with the Moon Palace. It was alright. Nice, enough. Clean. Good Food. Big. Too Big. A golfer's delight. Blah... The beach is off a reef. It looked like this...
Yes, it was warm. Yes, it was swimmable.
We tried to change to their other location, but they were booked solid.
So, we took the 45 minute bus ride to their Beach Palace each day to swim in the the aqua blue water & play in the pristine white sands.
No complaints, here.
Chill illin' in the sunshine with my babies...
...soaking in the much needed vitamin D.
Axel may or may not have fallen asleep on the beach,
but, we don't have talk about it...
Waiting on some public transportation...
...an open air liquid lunch.
Pool Party!
...like a couple of miniature frat boys.
Two wild & crazy guys...
...followed up with a round of rooftop cocktails.
Fun for the whole family.
Xcaret is a spectacular Mayan Eco Water Park...
A showcase of authentic ancient ruins...
 ...mixed with majestic cats...
Big...
 ...and small...
 Birds...
...and butterflies...
Skeletons...
 ...and sharks.
 Flowers...
...and food.
Tropical refreshments...
...and a river. We swam down it. All 4 of us. Big & small...
 A dapper senorita...
 ...and a cemetery.
 Sculptures...
...and a shrine.

Sea Urchin...
 ...and sea turtles.
 A beach to relax on...
...ended our day at Xcaret watching the ceremonious Dance of the Chinelos...
We had so much fun that we missed our bus.
 Cancun.
Saved us from the cold, if only for a minute. Ran us hard.
Barely touched room service...
Fever dreams...
...and bed sheets covered in puke.
 Spring Breakers in Training...
 Next up:
a super choppy boat ride to Isla Mujeres!
